Pictured is another On Duty Tactical first: we present our version of the A-TACS camouflage pattern in our Midwest Fall color scheme. This pattern was developed in house along with the colors for the hunting community to seamlessly blend into the wild and give the hunter an edge over standard issued weapons. The customer came to me with an older Mossberg 12 gauge that he has been shooting for over 20 years which was banged up significantly. We took the shotgun and completely stripped it down and then started building back up the impurities. The weapon you see here is a one of a kind piece capable of blending anywhere during the Midwest hunt.
:Update 12/02/2011: I had a potential customer contact me after seeing this weapon and he had to have one just like it. I informed him what I would charge for the weapon to be refinished and he delivered the shotgun. What he failed to tell me is that he had already attempted to apply the DuraCoat products using the Do It Yourself kit sold by Lauer Weapon Company on their website.
I would like to take a moment to inform individuals who would like to apply DuraCoat products themselves. Without the proper training, equipment, and knowledge… you will be seeking a professional to redo your work; if you do not completely destroy the firearm in the process. Lauer Weapon Company provides great training and excellent professional equipment to apply all of their finishes and there is a reason for that. Of course none of that training or equipment is cheap, but it is essential to properly refinish your firearm. I can not fault Steve Lauer for raking in the bucks giving people the idea that they can do this themselves and be successful with a spray can. Like they say.. If you sell it, someone will buy it. Please, if you are set on refinishing your firearm, please consult a professional the first time around. The cost to fix your mistake and then properly prepare and apply the finishes will be double what it would have cost you in the first place. Happy Hunting.
